INCIDENT:Aggravated assault with a weapon
DATE: 05/18/2015


On Saturday, May 9th, 2015 at approximately 1:19am Marietta Officers responded to the Hospitality Inn at 2390 Delk Road in reference to shots fired. The initial investigation revealed that a verbal altercation took place between several individuals and escalated into a physical altercation. During the altercation, 23 year old Erik Gonzales, was located later at Northside Hospital where he suffered from a single gunshot wound to the left chest and later identified as the victim in this case providing investigative leads. Marietta Police Department Detectives Division was able to identify 19 year old Erik Hernandez as the suspect and placed him into custody for aggravated assault with a weapon. A warrant was later issued for 21 year old Cristian Romero also for aggravated assault with a weapon as the second suspect in this case.

With the help of the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force and the U.S. Marshalls Office, Cristian Romero was quickly located and placed into custody on May 14th, 2015 within 2 hours of the warrant being secured.

This incident is possibly gang related and more charges are pending as the investigation continues.
