Traffic Crash in Porter Twp

Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood, Jr. reports that his deputies handled a personal injury traffic crash on US HWY 12 just west of Kessington Road in Mason Township, Cass County, Michigan. That crash happened on May 17, 2015 approximately 5:18 P.M. Eric Littlejohn 49 years of age from Nappanee, IN, was traveling West on US HWY 12 when he was unable to stop for traffic that was stopped on the roadway waiting to turn into a driveway. Littlejohn struck the vehicle in front of him driven by Jeffrey Scoville 55 years of age from Elkhart, IN. Jeffrey Scoville's and his passenger Jerry Scoville 80 years of age also from Elkhart were check and released by Porter TWP EMS. Eric Littlejohn was transported by Porter Township EMS to Elkhart General Hospital for his injuries. All parties involved in the traffic crash were utilizing seatbelts, alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Cell phone use may have been a factor in the crash. Cass County Sheriff was assisted by Porter/Mason Township Fire & Ambulance. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
