Advisory

Exxon Mobil refinery gate project

The Exxon Mobil refinery has begun a gate project in an effort to improve the traffic flow for workers and the community on the streets surrounding the refinery’s Gate 2 entrance.

What you should know…

Project: The refinery is widening Gate 2, located near the corner of Prairie Avenue and 190th Street, to create a safer entryway for delivery trucks to access the property and to alleviate traffic congestion. The project also includes the addition of a new driveway dedicated for contractors away from Gate 2 to further ease traffic congestion. The new Gate 3 will be located across from Doty Avenue.

The project includes a landscaping plan to replant trees in the surrounding area of Gate 2.

Traffic: To protect drivers’ safety and minimize traffic impact, the traffic pattern on westbound 190th Street remains the same; only right turn will be allowed into and out of the refinery’s Gate 3. Safety signs will be installed to remind drivers of safe traffic protocol.

Schedule: Work will be performed Monday through Thursday from 6 AM through 4:30 PM. No weekends. No early morning work is performed on the project that would impact the community, and the refinery has implemented measures to minimize noise and dust from the project. The project is expected to be completed in late June 2015.
