ShotSpotter Indicates Gun Fired; Suspect with Loaded Firearm Arrested - On Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at about 8:00 PM, Oakland Police officers responded to the 7600 block of Arthur Street to investigate a shooting that had just been reported to OPD Communications and had also been picked up by ShotSpotter. While the officers checked the area for victims or persons involved in the shooting, they observed a man standing next to an open car. As the officers spoke to him, they noticed what appeared to be a weapon concealed in his clothing. The man was detained and a loaded firearm was recovered. He was arrested for carrying a concealed and loaded firearm in public. At the time of his arrest there was no indication that anyone had been struck when shots were fired.

Man Arrested in Connection with Strong Arm Robbery and Carjacking – On Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at approximately 6:30 AM, Oakland Police officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Congress Avenue to investigate a strong arm robbery. Officers arrived on scene and located the victim, who reported that two males had taken her purse and cell phone from her as she sat in her car. The description she provided was similar to suspects who were wanted for a carjacking that had occurred late Monday night. During the investigation, officers located the carjacked vehicle and a suspect in the 7200 block of Lacey Street. The suspect was positively identified by both the carjacking victim and the strong arm robbery victim. Personal items belonging to the robbery victim were found in the carjacked vehicle. Additional officers responded to the area and recovered two other autos that were reported stolen from car dealerships in a nearby city.
