ESCONDIDO POLICE TO HOST BUSINESS ASSOCIATION MEETING

On Thursday, May 14th, the Escondido Police Department and the City of Escondido Office of Economic Development will host a community meeting for business owners along the East Valley Pkwy corridor. The meeting will be held at Charter High School at 9:00 AM in the hope of generating enough interest amongst local business owners to form an East Valley Business Association (EVBA). Chief Craig Carter will be the featured speaker and will highlight the police department's commitment to community policing in the East Escondido area through the Neighborhood Transformation Project (NTP).

The Neighborhood Transformation Project is a community policing initiative that seeks to reduce crime and enhance the quality of life in Escondido by promoting environmental change in our community, one neighborhood at a time. The idea began as a pilot project in 2014 and moved to the East Escondido area in January of 2015. The area of East Valley Parkway falls within the NTP "footprint" and, over the next 12 to 18 months, will receive significant assistance from the police department, Office of Economic Development, Public Works and other city resources.

Chief Carter said, "As a police department, we recognize that the business community has a large role to play when it comes to environmental change and making Escondido a great place to live, work and play. My challenge, as Chief of Police, is to help the business community understand that role and impress upon it how much we really need to work together if we hope to make that happen. Bottom line, we are looking for members of the business community who are willing to partner with us and get something positive done for the East Escondido area."

Any owner or manager of a business along the East Valley Parkway corridor (from Ash St. to Bear Valley Pkwy.) is encouraged to attend. Reservations are not required and the meeting should last approximately one hour.

You can learn more about the Neighborhood Transformation Project by going to the Escondido Police Department's webpage and clicking the blue NTP link in the top right corner or following the Escondido Police Department on Facebook.
