ISP Conducting Inmate Death Investigation
ISP Conducting Inmate Death Investigation
Johnson Co., Yesterday, at approximately 1:00 p.m., at the request of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, the Indiana State Police initiated a death investigation of an inmate of the jail.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that Kyler L. Myers, 19, of Greenwood, was arrested early yesterday morning at approximately 2:30 a.m. for two counts of Possession of Paraphernalia and one count of Disorderly Conduct by the Greenwood Police Department.
During Myers incarceration at the Johnson County Jail he reportedly became increasingly agitated with other inmates and displayed unusual behavior. At the directive of the jail nurse, Myers was transported to the Johnson County Memorial Hospital for evaluation and upon arrival was found to be unresponsive in the transport van. Lives saving measures were immediately administered by jail and hospital officials, but proved to be futile.
An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted today in Johnson County and an update will be released when that information becomes available.
The family has been notified.
This is an ongoing investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available.
