Trooper Involved in Personal Injury Crash on I-465
Indianapolis, IN- An Indianapolis trooper is recovering this evening after being involved in a personal injury crash while responding to the report of another personal injury crash on I-465.
This evening at approximately 7:30 p.m. Trooper Evan Joyner, a four year veteran of the Indiana State Police, was responding to a report of a personal injury crash. Joyner was responding in the left lane with the emergency lights and siren operating on his 2014 Dodge unmarked police car on I-465 EB at the 33.2 mm. (between Allisonville and Keystone)
Preliminary investigation and witness statements reveal that Brent Roman, 23, of Fishers, operating a 2002 Ford Explorer, changed lanes in front of Joyner resulting in a rear end crash. Trooper Joyner was transported to St. Vincent Hospital. He was conscious, alert and speaking with investigators on the scene when transported. He had a complaint of pain to his ankle and back. Roman was transported to Community Hospital for observation.
Roman was issued traffic citations for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and unsafe lane movement. Both traffic citations are infractions.
