Haystack fire near Quincy ruled suspicious

QUINCY, Wash. (07MAY2015) - The Grant County Sheriff’s Office and the Grant County Fire Marshal are investigating another in a series of haystack fires near Quincy.

The most recent fire was reported by a passerby about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6 near Roads 8 and R-Northwest. No vehicles or people were seen in the area.

About 34 tons of hay were lost in what the fire marshal says is a suspicious fire. The loss was valued at over $9,100. The hay, owned by Ben Schaapman, is insured.

Anyone with information about any of the fires is asked to call the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 509-762-1160, or send information to [email protected]. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
