Danville Police have identified the victim in the May 5, 2015 vehicle-bicycle crash on Crow Canyon Road as George Kaufer, 55, of Danville.

At 4:37 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, Kaufer was riding his bicycle on Tassajara Ranch Road when he collided with a 1997 Toyota Avalon driving north on Crow Canyon Road. Kaufer suffered severe injuries in the accident and was transported via helicopter to John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek. He was pronounced dead of his injuries that evening.

Lt Allan Shields said traffic officers were on scene for around six hours after the crash, collecting evidence and documenting the accident scene. The accident remains under investigation and Shields said no information regarding cause of the accident or any potential charges will be released pending the completion of the investigation.

“Our hearts and thoughts are with the Kaufer family at this very difficult time,” said Shields. He added, “The Danville Police Department appreciates the public’s patience while a thorough investigation is conducted.”
