The North Brunswick Police Department will be conducting a pedestrian safety enforcement campaign over the next month. The campaign is funded through a grant from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety.
Drivers "must" stop for pedestrians in a marked crosswalk. Failure to observe the law may subject you to one or more of the following under Title 39:4-36: 2points, $200.00 fine (plus court costs), 15-days of community service and insurance surcharges. Pedestrians also share a responsibility and must obey pedestrian signals and use crosswalks at signalized intersections. Both carry a $54.00 fine for failure to observe the law under Title 39:4-32 and 39:4-33.
