Three Alleged Armed Robberies in Isla Vista Under Investigation

Sheriff’s deputies and UCSB police officers assigned to the Isla Vista Foot Patrol are investigating three separate alleged armed robberies and one residential burglary.  The first one occurred inside a residence at an apartment complex in the 6500 block of Seville Road at approximately 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning, May 3, 2015.   A resident called 911 to report that three suspects wearing dark hoodies and masks came into his apartment and stole his cell phone and laptop.  Two of the suspects were reportedly armed with handguns.  The suspects fled the area.  Sheriff’s deputies and UCSB police officers searched the area but were not able to locate the suspects.

The following morning, Monday, May 4, at approximately 2:00 a.m. at the same apartment complex but neighboring unit of the prior crime scene, Sheriff’s deputies and UCSB police officers responded to a report of residents arguing over drugs and money owed.  A female victim inside the residence reported four or five people whom she was acquainted with, stole money from her and that two of the individuals were armed with knives.  When law enforcement arrived they found several subjects fleeing the area and five individuals were detained.  Through the course of the investigation, four of the subjects were determined to be connected to the alleged robbery.  21-year-old Brenden Lewis of Ventura was booked on charges of robbery, burglary, and transportation of a controlled substance.  25-year-old Christianna Horton also of Ventura was booked on charges of burglary and robbery.  19-year-old Tevis Johnston of Buellton was booked on charges of burglary, robbery and transportation of controlled substances.  20-year-old Levi Roman of Buellton was booked on charges of robbery, burglary and possession of an illegal knife.  The drug charges involved the transportation of cocaine and alprazolam, a schedule 3 controlled substance.

The Isla Vista Foot Patrol is also investigating a third, unrelated armed robbery that occurred later on May 4, at approximately 5:30 p.m.  A male victim, who is a SBCC student, was walking in the 6600 block of Sabado Tarde when he was reportedly robbed by four or five black male adults who were armed with a handgun. The suspects took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.  They were last seen fleeing the area on foot and are still outstanding.

Today, May 5, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary at the apartment complex located at 6500 block of Seville Road.  27-year-old Savannah Arias of Isla Vista was arrested and is booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on a charge of residential burglary.  Arias was the alleged victim of the second armed robbery on Seville Road.
