Pair Arrested after Traffic Stop in Vermillion County

Vermillion County—Last night at approximately 8:45, Indiana State Police Trooper Michael Organ stopped a 2003 Mazda passenger car on northbound State Road 63 near County Road 1100 South for 78 miles-per-hour in a 60mph zone.

During the traffic stop, Organ noticed several indicators of criminal activity and subsequent check of the occupants and the vehicle yielded nearly one gram of heroin, hypodermic needles and assorted drug paraphernalia. The driver was identified as Cassie K. Allen and the male passenger was identified as Dustin S. Denson. Denson was also found to have a warrant for burglary out of Edgar County Illinois in addition to being on parole from the Indiana Department of Corrections. The one year old daughter of Allen was also a passenger in the vehicle. Indiana Department of Child Services of Vermillion County was called to the scene, checked the welfare of the child, and released her to a relative. The DCS investigation is ongoing.

Arrested: Cassie K. Allen, age 20, of Montezuma, Indiana (mother of the child)

Charges: Possession of Narcotic Drug, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of Hypodermic Needle, and Neglect of a Dependent.
Incarcerated in the Vermillion County Jail

Arrested: Dustin S. Denson, age 22, of Terre Haute, Indiana

Charges: Possession of Narcotic Drug, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possession of Hypodermic Needle.
Incarcerated in the Vermillion County Jail

Assisting Trooper Organ was the Clinton Police Department.
