On May 1 ,2015, at approximately 6:30PM, protesters gathered at Frank Ogawa Plaza. The group of 300-400 people marched in the downtown area. Individuals within the groups committed multiple acts of vandalism. These acts of vandalism included broken windows, graffiti, small fires and failure to disperse . At approximately 8:44PM, OPD requested mutual aid and partner agencies responded to assist.
At this time over a dozen people have been arrested and citations have been issued. Currently there are no reports of protester activity. City staff has begun clean-up of the downtown area. We will provide an update tomorrow.
