Full Notification

his morning a student at the North Royalton High School found a loaded handgun in a holster sitting on the bumper of a car that was parked in the student lot. That student immediately notified school administrators and the school went into a lockdown around 7:30 am. The school resource officer and a juvenile detective responded to the situation. They located the driver of the vehicle which was a student. The gun belongs to the student's father who admitted to accidentally leaving the gun on the bumper of the vehicle the night before. The student drove the vehicle to school this morning without any knowledge that the gun was there. The lockdown at the school lasted just under 30 minutes. An investigation of the incident is being done to determine if charges should be filed. This incident cause traffic to be backed up in the area for a short time.
