City of Sausalito Announces Changes to Posted Speed Limits

City of Sausalito Announces Changes to Posted Speed Limits

The City of Sausalito’s Department of Public Works recently commissioned a traffic survey to review existing speed limits throughout town. The survey takes into account accident data, pedestrian/bicyclist safety concerns and other roadway conditions to calculate what a safe speed is for a given roadway.

Several changes to the current speed limits have resulted from this survey. They are:
• Southbound Bridgeway from Gate 6 Road to Spring Street, the speed limit has increased from 30 MPH to 35 MPH.
• Northbound Bridgeway from Napa Street to Spring Street, the speed limit has decreased from 35 MPH to 30 MPH.
• South Street, in both directions, the speed limit has decreased from 25 MPH to 20 MPH.
• Alexander Avenue, in both directions, the speed limit has decreased from 25 MPH to 20 MPH.

Please be mindful of the new speed limits while driving through town. The new speed limits have been provided to the Superior Court as required by law and are now enforceable by law enforcement officers.
