INCIDENT: Vehicle Burglary & Stolen Vehicle Recovery

LOCATION: 11852 & 11750 Mt. Vernon Ave. (The Highlands Apartments)

SUMMARY: On Wednesday, April, 29, 2015, at approximately 7:30 a.m., deputies from Sheriff's Central Station (Grand Terrace) responded to multiple vehicle burglaries at The Highlands Apartments in Grand Terrace. The thefts are believed to have occurred during the early morning hours. An unknown Hispanic male with dark hair wearing blue jeans, a dark t-shirt and a backpack broke into six vehicles at the apartment complex. Numerous calls came in as victims realized the vehicles had been broken into. One of the victims saw the above described suspect removing a battery from a maroon 1998, Ford, truck. The victim saw the suspect put on a back pack and walk north through the complex. The truck was found to have been reported stolen. The victim thought the subject was suspicious and called Sheriff’s Dispatch. Deputies arrived and conducted an area check. The suspect was not located and remains outstanding. The stolen vehicle was recovered and was found to have been reported stolen out of the City of Rancho Cucamonga. All of the stolen property from the vehicle burglaries was located inside the stolen vehicle and released to the victims at the location.
