Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood J.R. reports that his office responded to a two vehicle crash on Yankee St near Almaugus in Howard Township on 4/28/2015 at 5:35 P.M. 22-year-old Rebecca Banks of Niles was turning into her driveway on Yankee when she was rear ended by another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle, 24-year-old Kasandra Ball of Niles, said that she had briefly taken her eyes of the roadway in front of her to glance at an unrelated traffic accident she had just passed.

Medics transported Banks to Lakeland Hospital for treatment of her minor injuries. The occupants of the two vehicles were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The Howard Township Fire Department and the Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Service assisted the Sheriff's Office at the accident scene.

This incident remains under investigation.
