(Allen County, IN)-The Indiana State Police is investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred last night on the Allen/Wells County line that claimed the life of a 25 year old man from rural Ossian.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Anthony Repass indicated that at approximately 8:20 p.m. last night, a 1996 Ford Mustang driven by 25 year old Derek J. Johnson was traveling westbound on the County Line Road, west of State Road 1.
For an unknown reason, Johnson's car left the north side of the roadway where it struck a utility pole before rolling over multiple times ejecting Johnson's young passenger. Although seat belted, Johnson suffered severe internal injuries and both were flown via Samaritan to Parkview Regional Medical Center where Johnson was later pronounced dead.
This crash remains under investigation and Repass was assisted at the scene by the Wells County Sheriff Department and the Ossian Police Department.
