On Monday, April 27, 2015, at approximately 5:30 pm, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station was alerted by an anonymous citizen of a possible street race to be held near the 18500 block of Via Princessa in Canyon Country. The citizen saw the invitation for the race on “Instagram,” which was scheduled to start at 11:00 pm that night. Based on the citizen’s tip, deputies were alerted to patrol the area, and later saw several vehicles had arrived but immediately left after seeing patrol cars. A possible second location had been identified as the 33400 block of Crown Valley Road in Acton. LAPD West Valley Traffic, CHP Newhall and Lancaster and Palmdale Sheriff's Stations were notified of the information.
Thanks to the assistance from the anonymous tipster, deputies from Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station was able to avert a possible street race and preserved the safety of our streets.
