Central Station - Deputies from the Specialized Enforcement Division arrest Hector Leyva from a home in Riverside

INCIDENT: FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, CRIMINAL
THREATS AND CONCEALED WEAPON
LOCATION: 22111 NEWPORT AVE, GRAND TERRACE
SUSPECT(S): HECTOR LEYVA, AGE 27
VICTIM(S): CONFIDENTIAL
SUMMARY: On Saturday April 25, 2015, deputies from Grand Terrace were dispatched to a man brandishing a gun from his vehicle. Upon deputies arrival, the suspect fled the scene. An area search was conducted and the vehicle was found a short distance from the victim's resdience. After searching the vehicle and residence, no gun or suspect was found. Through investigation, the suspect was identified as Hector Leyva, age 27. Upon further investigation the suspect was found to have ties to the cities of Riverside and Fontana. The suspect is a known career criminal.
On Monday, April 27, 2015, deputies from the Specialized Enforcement Division, found Leyva at a residence in Riverside. Leyva immediately fled from deputies upon contact. While Leyva was running, he threw a long object from his waist band, later found to be a hatchet. Deputies caught Leyva and he was taken into custody without incident. Leyva was booked into Central Detention Center for Felon in possession of a firearm, terrorist threats and a concealed weapon with a bail amount of $100,000.00.
