A Sneeze Causes Semi to Roll on Its Side
Burns Harbor-Today at approximately 9:15 a.m. (CDT) on SB SR 249 to I-94 WB (this is exit 19 on I-94), a semi driver starts to sneeze and rolls his rig on its side.
Master Trooper Jeff Council advised that a yellow 1999 Peterbuilt Tractor driven by Edward W. McCallum, 48 from Hobart, IN was pulling a flatbed trailer with a steel coil weighing 45,000 pounds. As he was entering the ramp he started to sneeze which caused him to run off the ramp into the grassy knoll and rolled the rig on its side. McCallum was not injured and Cresco Lines, INC called Waffco Wrecker to upright the semi and towed it away.
There was no fuel spill and no ramp or interstate closures. Master Trooper Council was assisted by Sergeant Lee Wright.
Picture is of crash scene.
