Redwood City Police Arrest Sexual Battery Suspect

SUSPECT: Robert Lastinger, 55 year-old, male, Fremont resident
INCIDENT SUMMARY:
On April 27, 2015, Redwood City detectives arrested Robert Lastinger, a former employee of Stanford Hospital’s Outpatient Surgery Center for sexually battering patients under his care while employed as an operating room technician. The investigation began when Stanford employees reported seeing Lastinger inappropriately touching anesthetized male patients when he had contact with them during their recovery period. On April 2, 2015, the hospital administration notified police and placed Lastinger on administrative leave. Redwood City police began an intensive investigation to identify victims and gather evidence in the case. The investigation has identified four victims who were sexually battered by Lastinger while they were sedated for surgery. The incidents occurred between March 15th and April 2nd, 2015.
