The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office releases the names of the Deputies involved in last night's shooting
The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the names of the Deputies involved in the pursuit and shooting at just after midnight on April 23, 2015.
Deputy Sheriff Joel Pedersen, has been a member of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office for 24 years. He is assigned to the Main Office.
Deputy Sheriff James Falberg has been a member of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office for 9 years. He is assigned to the Windsor Police Department.
Deputy Sheriff Lawrence Matelli has been a member of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office for 3 years. He is assigned to the Windsor Police Department. He has prior experience with another law enforcement agency.
Deputy Sheriff Daniel Edwards has been a member of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office for 1 ½ years. He is assigned to the Windsor Police Department. He has prior experience with another law enforcement agency.
All four Deputies have been placed on Administrative Leave for an undetermined amount of time. This is standard procedure following a critical incident and is in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the Sonoma County Law Enforcement Chiefs’ Association Employee-Involved Fatal Incident Protocol.
The Santa Rosa Police Department is the lead agency in this investigation and all media inquiries should be addressed to their agency.
The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office will conduct an administrative review of the incident and pledges our full cooperation with the outside agency’s investigation.
