Steuben County Trooper Promoted to Corporal

(Fort Wayne, IN)-The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Douglas G. Carter has promoted Senior Trooper Kody E. Buell to the rank of Corporal where he will serve as a District Duty Officer at the Fort Wayne Post.  He will assume both first line supervisory and administrative duties.

Buell is a 2000 graduate of Angola High School and holds a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice from Trine University.  He is a 10 year veteran of the Indiana State Police having been appointed on October 24, 2004 as a graduate of the 64th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy.  Upon his appointment, Buell was assigned to the Toll Road Post where he patrolled LaGrange and Steuben Counties until 2007 when he transferred to the Fort Wayne Post.

In May of 2008, Buell graduated from the Northwestern University School for Public Safety Police Motorcycle School which was instructed by Harley Davidson.  He was then transferred to the Special Operations Section where he served with the Motorcycle Patrol Unit until his promotion.

During his career, Buell has served the Department as a Field Training Officer and is a Certified General Instructor.  He currently resides in Steuben County.
