  • 3600 BLOCK OF SECOND AVE. (15-3114)

Residential Burglary occurred on: 4/15/2015 between 12:45 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Theft of Vehicle occurred between: 4/16/2015 at 6:00 p.m. and 4/17/2015 at 7:00 a.m.

On April 15, while the victim was at lunch, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s home through either an unlocked door or the front door, which had been left open for the victim’s dog.  When the victim returned home from lunch, he discovered a necklace from a jewelry box had been moved and was on a chair in the living room, but nothing else seemed to be disturbed.

On the morning of April 17, the victim discovered that his vehicle was not parked in his driveway.  The victim also discovered that the spare key and key fob for the vehicle were missing.  The victim believes that the key and key fob may have been taken on April 15 when he discovered the necklace had been moved.

Loss:  2004 Toyota Sequoia, key and key fob.

Suspect Information:  None seen or heard.

Home Security Tips

·   Always lock your windows and doors when you go out, even if for only a few minutes.

o   If you return home and find your pedestrian door that leads into your home locked, and you are certain that you left it unlocked, DO NOT GO INSIDE!  Call the police immediately at 9-1-1.  Burglars often lock this door to slow down a victim, allowing the burglar extra time to get out of the home before the resident enters.

·   If your home is equipped with an alarm, always activate it even if you’re only going out for a short walk.

·   Always keep your front and rear porch lights on from dusk to dawn and use motion detector lighting along the sides of your home or areas with little foot traffic.

·   If your garage door has a remote shutoff button (on the wall-mounted control) located in the garage, consider locking the door nightly.  This will prevent your garage door from being open remotely.

·   When you leave on vacation remember to call the Police Department for a “Vacation Check” (949) 644-3717 or sign up on line at www.nbpd.org.  Also, ask a trusted friend or neighbor to pick up your paper and mail while you are away.
