Investigators have identified the people they believe stole a 1966 Ford Mustang from Old Fort on April 10.
Charges have been filed, but the two are on the run from authorities.
Detective Andy Manis of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office has issued warrants for 35-year-old Jason Alan Laws, of 1025 Iron Lane in Morganton, and 32-year-old Crystal Lea Perkins, of 2106 Ollis Place in Lenoir, for felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering and misdemeanor injury to real property.
The Mustang, owned by Charles Sult, of Asheville, and valued at $25,000, was stolen from a garage on Oakdale Road. The culprit made off with the car by driving it through the garage door.
Property owners found the stolen automobile on a piece of wooded land in Caldwell County Thursday morning, April 16. The car was heavily damaged and stripped of parts.
An investigation led Manis to Laws and Perkins.
Laws is described as a white male who stands 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 188 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He is also wanted in Florida for reckless driving; in Montana for assaulting and obstructing an officer, contempt of court, driving while license revoked and no liability insurance; and in Burke County for driving while license revoked, resisting a public officer, aggressive driving and fictitious or altered title or registration card or tag.
Perkins is described as a white female who stands 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds. She has blonde hair and green eyes. She is also wanted in Burke County for two counts of misdemeanor larceny.
They are possibly driving a silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
