Beverly Hills Police Chief Announces Retirement

David Snowden to Leave Post June 13, 2015

Beverly Hills, CA – Beverly Hills Police Chief David Snowden will retire effective June 13 after more than 11 years with the City of Beverly Hills. The chief’s retirement was advanced by several months due to upcoming back surgery.
Chief Snowden has been Chief of Police for Beverly Hills since 2004 and has served in a variety of law enforcement roles for nearly 50 years. A former brigadier general in the U.S. Military Reserve, Chief Snowden has received numerous awards throughout his career including the Sherman Block Law Enforcement Professional of the Year Award, Costa Mesa Hall of Fame Award and the National Law Enforcement Commendation Medal.
Beverly Hills Mayor Julian Gold expressed appreciation to Chief Snowden for his contributions to the City. “Our residents and businesses have benefited tremendously from Dave’s commitment to providing the community with the finest in public safety,” Gold said. “We wish him well in his retirement and thank him for his years of service.”
During his tenure, the City’s police department launched and expanded high-tech public safety programs, including citywide security cameras, automated license plate readers and opening the Emergency Operations Center.
Prior to his service to the City of Beverly Hills, Chief Snowden served as Chief of the Costa Mesa Police Department (1986-2003) and Chief of the Baldwin Park Police Department (1980-1986). Chief Snowden is a graduate of Cal State Fullerton and was given the distinguished alumni award in 1989.
