(Wells County, IN)-The Indiana State Police in Fort Wayne is investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred late last night in Wells County that resulted in a 39 year old New Haven man losing his life.
Preliminary investigation conducted by Trooper Anthony Repass indicated that at approximately 9:30 p.m., a 2005 Dodge sedan operated by 39 year old Dennis A. Summers of New Haven was traveling westbound on US 224 near County Road 700 E.
Summers’ vehicle traveled left of center, across the eastbound lane of US 224, and off the roadway to the south where it struck a concrete embankment sending the vehicle airborne. The vehicle reportedly landed on its top and although Summers was wearing his seatbelt at the time, the nature of the crash along with his injuries proved to be too much for him to survive.
It is believed that alcohol was a factor in this crash and toxicology results are pending. This crash remains under investigation.
