On April 19, 2015 at approximately 8:29am Gardena police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call in the 16400 block of Harvard Blvd in the City of Gardena. The female caller told the 9-1-1 operator her son was breaking into her apartment.
When the officers arrived, they detained a male adult seen exiting the apartment where the 911 call originated from. Officers entered the apartment to check the well-being of the occupant and discovered a deceased female adult inside. The female victim had been stabbed multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The female victim is identified as 56-year-old Sohyun Kim. The male who was detained after exiting the apartment is identified as the victim’s son, 30-year-old Nicholas Kim. Nicholas Kim was arrested and transported to Gardena jail where he was booked for the murder of his mother.
