Compton Station Youth Activities League gets a Make Over

On Saturday April 18, 2015 the Compton Station Youth Activities League (YAL) (www.comptonyal.org ) received a much needed paint makeover courtesy of Compton Youth Build (www.comptonyouthbuild.org ).  Students from the organization joined forces with two other youth groups called Compton Initiative (www.Justdogood.org) and the “Beautify LA” muralist group, working under the supervision of the Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles.

The Compton Youth Build Students came up with a two day Community Service project that included a variety of workshops and information booths at their school on April 17 and a Community Project at the YAL on April 18.  Students from various Youth Build schools came out and volunteered their time to paint the inside of the YAL and painted a mural at the Community Garden.  The concept of the mural was thought out by the students and created by Petal, an LA muralist along with her team of muralist and graffiti artists (www.dangerbeez.wordpress.com).
