CITY OF GARDENA WELCOMES NEW JUVENILE JUSTICE AND INTERVENTION PROGRAM

Gardena, CA – The City of Gardena is pleased to announce the opening of the Gardena Juvenile Justice & Intervention Program (GJJIP) at 16206 S. Western Avenue. In collaboration with the Gardena Police Department, USC School of Social Work, and members of the community, the GJJIP was created to be the localized diversion program tailored to the needs of at-risk youth within the City.

The effect of evidence-based practice intervention methods on juvenile offenders is proven to significantly reduce recidivism rates. The GJJIP is focused on finding alternative solutions to breaking the cycle of crime and delinquency for the youth by utilizing evidence-based practice methods to identify and address areas of a youth’s life that may be contributing to delinquent behavior.

The City of Gardena understands that investing in our youth community now can substantially improve the outlook and quality of life for the City in the future.
