*Update-Troopers Investigating Fatality Crash on I-465-Update*

Indianapolis, IN- Indiana State Police are investigating a two vehicle crash on I-465 that has resulted in the death of an Indianapolis man.
Last evening, April 17th at 8:30 p.m., Indiana State troopers were dispatched to I-465 SB at the 9.6mm to investigate a two vehicle personal injury crash. (This is the area of the ramps to both east and west bound 1-70)
Preliminary investigation reveled that a male subject had gotten out of a Chevrolet SUV that was pulling a trailer that was hauling a race car, on I-465 SB at the 9.6mm to check the status of the car. The male was on the right side of the trailer, between the trailer and the concrete barrier, when the trailer was struck by a SB 1992 Chevrolet van driven by Steve Hornaday, 51, of Greenwood, IN.
The male subject was struck by the trailer and pronounced deceased at the scene by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. Hornady was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.
The deceased male has been identified as Karim Rahmaan, 25, of Indianapolis, IN.
This is an ongoing investigation and troopers are investigating why Hornaday struck the trailer on the emergency shoulder.

Assisting Agencies: Marion County Coroner’s Office, Wayne Township Fire Department, Indiana Department of Transportation and Zore’s Towing.
