Stolen 1966 Ford Mustang recovered; detectives still looking for suspect; call 652-2237 with info; cash rewards offered
McDowell County Sheriff’s Office investigators have recovered a 1966 Ford Mustang stolen from Old Fort last Friday, April 10.
The car, owned by Charles Sult, of Asheville, and valued at $25,000, was located in a wooded area of Caldwell County Thursday morning by the owners of the property.
The Mustang was heavily damaged and stripped of parts. The perpetrator is still unknown and on the lam.
Before the theft, it was being housed in a garage on Oakdale Road in Old Fort. The culprit broke into the garage around 3:55 a.m. on April 10 and made off with the Mustang by driving it through the building’s door.
Sult is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the suspect, and McDowell County Crimestoppers is also offering a reward.
Anyone with information concerning the identity of the suspect is asked to call Detective Andy Manis or Detective Billie Brown of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office at 652-2237 or McDowell County Crimestoppers at 65-CRIME (652-7463). With Crimestoppers, your identity remains anonymous, and you could receive a cash reward.
