On April 16th, a report of an attempted phone scam was filed in the 100 block of Gentle Doe Drive. The victim received a call from a person identifying himself as Sgt. Mitchell with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office. The caller told the victim that she had warrants for her arrest and traffic tickets. The victim knew that she did not have active warrants and or unpaid tickets and hung up on the caller. She then called 911 to report the incident. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office will not call you and ask for money for a warrant or ticket to be dropped. Please do not fall victim to these types of scams. If in doubt, hang up and call 911 to confirm such a call.
