CORRECTION: Suspect in Several Bank Robberies Arrested

*The suspect was arrested in February. HCSO investigators were able to recently confirm the number of bank robberies he's responsible for. Our apology for any confusion this may have created.

(HOUSTON, TX) - A man suspected of robbing several area banks has been arrested.

Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff's Office and the FBI Houston Violent Offenders Task Force arrested Willy Cuevas in February of this year.

Cuevas, 31, is charged with Robbery by Threats for the following bank robberies in recent months.

Sept. 7, 2014- 12350 W. FM 1960
Nov. 5, 2014- 13103 W. FM 1960
Nov. 7, 2014- 15380 N. Eldridge Pkwy
Jan. 14, 2015- 18018 FM 529
Jan. 14, 2015- 15380 N. Eldridge Pkwy

According to investigators, Cuevas lost his job as a Customs and Border Protection agent at Bush Intercontinental Airport and became desperate for money.

He began to commit the bank robberies in September 2014 with the first bank being the Chase Bank located at 12350 W. FM 1960.

Suspect Cuevas worked alone and only displayed a demand note with the threats of having a weapon but never displayed one during the heists.
