Grant Co. Sheriff, Fire Marshal investigating five Quincy-area haystack fires
QUINCY, Wash. (16APR2015) – The Grant County Sheriff and the Grant County Fire Marshal are investigating a series of intentionally set haystack fires near Quincy.
Over the course of the past month there have been five haystack fires all caused by an incendiary device. The fires have caused several hundred thousand dollars in losses, the total yet to be tallied.
All have been within Fire District 3's jurisdiction in the Quincy/Winchester area. All have happened between 11:00 p.m. and 4 a.m. The fires happened on Martin Road Northwest, Road 6-Northwest, Road 11-Northwest, and Road H.7-Northwest.
The sheriff and the fire marshal are asking the public for any information about suspicious persons or vehicles seen in the area of any of the fires. They are also warning farmers to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
