Location: City of Moorpark
Date & Time: April 14, 2015 11:45AM
Unit(s) Responsible: Moorpark Volunteer In Policing Program
Narrative:
This week is National Volunteer Appreciation Week. Volunteers are every day heroes whose service makes a lasting impact on your organization and strengthens communities locally, nationally, and around the world.

We are extremely proud to recognize our outstanding volunteers during this week. Moorpark Volunteers in Policing (VIP’s) are role models in our community, donating their time, energy, and talent to bring us closer together as neighbors, a community and a nation. This week is set aside thanking these volunteers and inspiring everyone in our community to make volunteering a central part of their lives.

The Moorpark Volunteers in Policing Program began in 1993. Since the beginning of hourly record keeping in 2003, the Moorpark Volunteers in Policing have provided over 45,211 hours of volunteer services to the Moorpark Police Department and the City of Moorpark. The estimated California monetary value placed on volunteer time is $26.34 an hour, which equates to a savings of over $1,190,873 dollars to the Police Department and City of Moorpark.

Even if you’ve never volunteered before, the Moorpark Volunteer Program is within your reach. There are many ways to contribute, and every volunteer hour makes a difference in improving the quality of life for our community. We encourage everyone to get involved in volunteering and to bring along your family, friends, and neighbors. Together, we can strengthen America – one hour and one day at a time.
