Lafayette’s New Troopers get Their Cars

 Today, 40 probationary troopers from the 74th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy class was issued their state police cars at the Indiana State Police garage located at the Indiana State Police Indianapolis District. Three of the officers are assigned to the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post and will start solo patrol in the district which covers White, Carroll, Clinton, Montgomery, Fountain, Warren, Benton and Tippecanoe Counties. The probationary officers recently completed a three month field training period with veteran troopers. They will serve a one year probationary period before attaining permanent status as a trooper. 

In addition to the field training, the new officers received approximately 917 hours of structured training in law enforcement techniques when they were assigned to Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. The curriculum included criminal law instruction, emergency vehicle operations training, psychology, and survival Spanish. They also developed skills in criminal investigation, vehicle crash investigation, and impaired driver prevention and detection. 

Probationary troopers assigned to the Lafayette Post: 

Probationary Trooper Kimberly Finn is a native of Roselawn, IN and a 2009 graduate of North Newton High School. She has attended college at Indiana University Northwest in Gary, IN and working on a degree in Biology and Criminal Justice. She will be patrolling White, Carroll, Clinton and Tippecanoe Counties.

Probationary Trooper Thomas Manning is a native of Terre Haute, IN. He is a 2010 graduate of Terre Haute North High School.  He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Law and Society.  He will be working White, Carroll, Tippecanoe and Clinton counties.

Probationary Trooper Alaina Zloty is a Martinsville, IN native and 2008 graduate of Martinsville High School. She graduated from Murray State University with a degree in Criminal Justice.  Her patrol area includes Benton, Warren, Fountain and Montgomery Counties.
