New Trooper Patrolling in Pendleton District

Indianapolis - Today 40 new troopers, who graduated from the 74th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy last December, received their own commissions to begin solo patrol responsibilities. The 74th Recruit Academy graduated on December 23rd 2014, after completing approximately 917 hours of structured training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield, Indiana.

Academy curriculum includes criminal and traffic law, general police subjects, arrest techniques, emergency driving, physical tactics, and firearms qualifications.

After completion of recruit school the probationary troopers worked and were evaluated for three months by field training officers in the districts they were assigned. This period enhanced their knowledge learned in the academy and allowed them to apply the understanding to real life situations.

For the Pendleton District it means that Trooper Dana Harvey will now be patrolling solo in Wayne and Henry Counties.  Harvey, a Hancock County native, graduated from New Palestine High School and attended classes at the University of Indianapolis. He is a Marine Corps Veteran having done tours in Afghanistan and Japan.

The Pendleton District covers the eight counties of Madison, Delaware, Randolph, Wayne, Henry, Union, Fayette and Rush. The attached photo is of Trooper Harvey.
