Burglary Arrest

(Etowah County, Alabama) A Gadsden man was arrested on Monday, April 6, and charged in connection to a burglary and theft of property, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Joseph Lennoard Hankins, III, 33, is charged with one count of third degree burglary and one count of third degree theft of property,” investigator Jeremy Lasseter said.

Hankins allegedly stole three butane torch kits and a quiver of hunting arrows from a building at a residence on Highway 411 near the Tidmore Bend community. The owner of the property approached Hankins, with a shotgun, as he was attempting to leave.

The victim shot twice, near Hankins head, when Hankins tried to move while waiting for sheriff’s deputies to arrive.

Hankins had walked to the residence after being dropped off near Don’s Butcher Block by his mother.

Hankins is being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center on $3,500 bond.
