Full Notification

North Aurora, IL – On Wednesday, April 8^th, 2015, at approximately 1:59 p.m. officers of the North Aurora Police Department were dispatched to the 700 blk. of Hidden Creek Ln. for a suicidal person with a weapon.  The caller indicated that he was distraught and intended to harm himself.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers found a witness passing by who heard gunshots just prior to police arrival.  Officers set up a perimeter to keep bystanders away with the assistance of officers from the Aurora Police Department and deputies of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.  An Alert was issued via Nixle at 2:35 p.m. and the West Aurora School District was notified to keep busses out of the area.  The Kane County SWAT team was summoned to the scene and prepared to enter the residence.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., SWAT team operators made entry and found the 57 year old male resident deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  Shortly thereafter the scene was declared safe and an all clear Alert was issued via Nixle at 5:23 p.m.  The resident was alone in the residence.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office responded and took custody of the body. 

We were also assisted in the operation by the Kane County Office of Emergency Management and the North Aurora Fire Department.
