Three people were arrested in Isla Vista on Sunday, April 5 and booked on charges of armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and battery with great bodily injury.  27-year-old Raul Torres of Goleta, 24-year-old Juan Bernabe of Santa Barbara and a 16-year-old juvenile from Santa Barbara were taken into custody shortly after assaulting two victims with a skateboard at approximately 11:15 p.m. in the 800 block of Embarcadero Del Norte.

A 20-year-old male from Pasadena and an 18-year old female Santa Barbara City College student were leaving a restaurant when they were assaulted by three males.  The victims were both punched and hit with a skateboard.  The male victim was struck several times and lost consciousness.  The suspects then ran off with the female victim’s purse.  Sheriff’s deputies and UCSB Police Officers assigned to the Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded.  The suspects were subsequently apprehended by several UCSB Police Officers nearby at the corner of Embarcadero Del Mar and Cordoba Road.  They were arrested and transported to jail.  The victims were treated at the scene but were not transported to the hospital.

Torres who was on a probation hold is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 15.  Bernabe posted bail which was set at 50,000 dollars and was released on April 6.  The juvenile suspect is still in custody.
