At 2:00 pm this afternoon Burlington Police were notified that Richard Laws had advised the Department of Corrections that he plans to come to Burlington when released tomorrow – April 9, 2015. While incarcerated, Laws was not compliant with sex offender treatment and will no longer be supervised by the Department of Corrections as he has maxed out his sentence. Laws’ prior offenses, including convictions for Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Sexual Assault, and Kidnapping have been against adult women, sometimes making initial contact with victims at bars. Burlington Police will be contacting local shelters and downtown establishments door to door this evening.
