Man Faces Multiple Charges in Domestic-Violence Related Shooting on Highview Street
Jackson police have charged Michael John Stitts, 42, of Jackson, in an early morning, domestic-violence related shooting of his ex-girlfriend.
Stitts is in custody at the Madison County Jail and will be arraigned at 8 a.m. Tuesday in Jackson City Court on charges of especially aggravated burglary, criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, employing a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony and felon in possession of a firearm.
At 5:27 a.m. Monday, Officers received a call to 253 Highview Street. Criminal investigators determined that Stitts had forced entry into the house and shot his ex-girlfriend, Mary Greer.
Officers quickly responded and arrested Stitts near the scene.
Greer remains at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis in critical condition.
