Attempted Bank Robbery - Valley Center

The Sheriff's Department wants your help in identifying and locating a man who tried to rob a bank in Valley Center.

Take a good look at the photos included in this NIXLE message to see if you recognize the suspect.

It happened just after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3rd at the California Bank and Trust located in the 29000 block of Valley Center Road.

Witnesses say the suspect walked into the bank and ordered everyone to get on the ground. He then threw a backpack onto a counter and demanded the teller give him money.

The teller wasn't able to comply because the suspect has demanded everyone to lay on the ground. The suspect eventually left empty handed.

As you can see from these photos, the suspect was dressed in black and was wearing a flowered covered motorcycle skull helmet and a dark scarf that was covering his face.

During the attempted robbery, the suspect kept one hand in his jacket pocket while threatening to use a gun. However, no weapon was ever seen. No one was hurt.

The suspect was last seen driving away in a newer, black covered vehicle with no plates, heading towards Escondido on Valley Center Road.

If you see the suspect, do NOT approach him. He should be considered ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

If you know who this suspect is or have any information on his whereabouts, call the Sheriff's Department at (858) 565-5200. You can also call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
