Cotton County - just after 3 o'clock Sunday morning, the Cotton County Sheriff's Office requested OSBI agents assist with an investigation of a shooting death. OSBI agents went to the scene to gather information and evidence. So far the investigation reveals that Nathan Daniel Morales (12/12/1983) was breaking into a residence at Route 1, Box 40 A near Devol. The noise awakened the homeowner who told Morales to leave. Morales continued to attempt to gain entry into the house when he was shot by a person inside the home. Morales died at the scene. The medical examiner will preform an autopsy. No one was arrested. OSBI will continue to investigate and will present a full report on the incident to the district attorney's office. The district attorney will determine if the shooting was justified.
