OSBI Agents Investigate In-Custodt Death
Just after 1 o'clock Saturday morning, a Warner police officer responded to a traffic accident in the area of Highway 64 and 158th Street South. The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident assaulted the officer. The officer deployed his taser on the man and was then able to handcuff him. After making the arrest, the officer noticed the man was not moving and not breathing. The man was transported to a local hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The Muskogee County Sheriff's Office requested OSBI agents investigate this in-custody death. Agents arrived on scene early this morning to begin collecting evidence and information. At the conclusion of the OSBI investigation, an agent will deliver a report to the district attorney. The district attorney will determine if there was any wrong doing on the part of the officer. In the meantime, the medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the man's cause of death. That man's name will be released when next of kin has been notified.
