Advisory

Prescription Drug Drop-Off Program

Chief Robert A. Jackson is pleased to announce that the Turlock Police Department will now be accepting expired, unused or unwanted and potentially dangerous prescription drugs from the public for destruction. For the community’s convenience, a drop box is accessibly located in the Public Safety Facility lobby; the service is free, anonymous, no questions asked.

Properly disposing of prescription drugs can help prevent pill abuse, misuse, and theft. To rid your home of potentially dangerous medication, simply drop it off at the Public Safety Facility located at 244 N. Broadway during regular business hours.

Studies indicate that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from home medicine cabinets. The current rates of prescription drug abuse and accidental poisonings in the U.S. is alarming. Chief Jackson urges the community to utilize our drop-off program as the usual methods of disposal are hazardous and can pose a potential health risk. Help us protect our environment by never disposing of prescription medication by flushing it down the toilet or throwing it away.

Only prescription medication in pill form or liquid will be accepted. For the safety of our staff, please do not place syringes in the drop-off box.

The Turlock Police Department is an active participant in the Crime Stoppers Program. Callers can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636 and may be eligible for a cash reward.
