San Bernardino - Trespassing/Attempted Theft/Possession of a Weapon

INCIDENT: Possession of Weapon / Attempted Theft / Trespassing
LOCATION: 1300 Block Coulston Street, San Bernardino
SUSPECT(S): Gilbert Martinez, 27 years of age
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Saturday, March 28, 2015, deputies from the Central Station were alerted of a possible residential burglary in progess in the 1300 block of Coulston Street. Upon arrival, they contacted Gilbert Martinez in the front yard of the residence behind a locked gate. During the contact with Martinez, he gave several varying reasons as to why he was at the location. The homeowner confirmed Martinez did not have permission to be at the location for any reason.
A wheelbarrow full of the victims property was located in the driveway. A search of Martinez revealed a homemade stabbing instrument. Martinez was arrested for the above charges and booked into the Central Detention Center. No items were stolen because deputies arrived quickly enough to prevent Martinez from leaving with the property.
