Commiskey Man Injured In Afternoon Head-on Crash Near Madison

Madison – A Commiskey man was seriously injured in an afternoon head-on collision between two vehicles near Madison.

According to Indiana State Police Sergeant Adam Bullock, on Friday March 27, 2015 around 1:55 PM, Gerald Carlisle 72, of Commiskey, Indiana was driving a white 2002 Ford Ranger north on SR 7 near CR 700 N when, for unknown reasons, he went off the road and struck a guardrail. The Ford Ranger came back onto the roadway and traveled into the south lane of SR 7 where it struck head-on a white 2015 Freightliner Sprinter driven by James Desch 45, of Germantown, Ohio. Carlisle was ejected from his truck and trapped under the vehicles.

After being removed from under the vehicles by Clifty 6 Fire and Rescue, Carlisle was flown by Air Methods helicopter to University of Louisville hospital facing life-threatening injuries. Desch refused medical attention at the scene.

SR 7 was closed for approximately 3 hours for reconstruction of the crash and clearing the scene.

Sgt. Bullock was assisted at the scene by Jefferson County Sheriff Department, Hanover Police Department, King’s Daughter’s Hospital EMS, Air Methods Air ambulance and Clifty 6 Fire and Rescue.
